What a drag, Lee

In February 1981, Kiwi film maker >Geoff Murphy unveiled his latest movie.

was a road movie about this car

with these two guys on board

a'runnin' from the cops as they made their way from Auckland to Invercargill. With an assortment of weird companions along the way.

The managed to pretty much trash the car

before their inevitable arrest (and the final credits).

Definitely a neat little movie to add to the collection.

Noteworthy in the movie crew was Lee Tamahori, who in 1980 when the film was made was a boom operator and is now internationally recognised as film maker in his own right. He is also recently made infamous as an arrestee for soliciting sex for money from a police officer in Hollywood whilst dressed in drag.

Just thinking though... Tamahori = Tama and Hori, right? Tama = adolescent and Hori is apparently George, so bearing in kind LT is supposedly male (despite his choice of soliciting attire), does that mean he's really "Boy George" on his day off??

Just goes to show that no matter how much money, fame, skill and talent ya got, if you're a warped and stupid bastard there's a good chance the whole world is gonna hear about it.

Eh, Lee?
