MONDAY
Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child born on the Sabbath Day,
is blithe and bonny, good and gay.
This is the first in a seven part mini-series about the days of the week. I will start with the second day of the week, just cos I can.
The word for today is "MONDAY"
"Monday" belongs to the Moon (Moon God) from the Saxon monandæg; the Danish maandag; the German nontag. Silver (dedicated to the moon) is associated with Monday. It is the sacred day of the goddesses Selene, Luna, Mani and especially Diana.
Diana was the Roman Goddess of Light; the Moon Goddess, Queen of Heaven, Goddess of Wildwood, Divine Huntress, Protector of Animals and the Lady of Beasts. She was also considered by the Greeks to be the same as Astarte/Artemis/Bast/Ariadne/Aphrodite/Venus/Inanna and Isis (and others). She is also associated with "Friday". She is heavily venerated by practitioners of Wiccan.
Busy lady.
People take sickies on Mondays. They start new jobs on Mondays. Cars assembled on Mondays are reputed to be less safe (as are cars made on Fridays). Christ rose again on a Monday. Public holidays are usually on a Monday.
Monday is my day for getting over the weekends crap.
Your song for Monday:
"I don't like Mondays" - Boomtown Rats.
Happy Monday one and all.
