Alien AB-ductions

I have been abducted by aliens. Well, actually just one alien which goes by the name of multiple sclerosis.

But then, you already knew that, didn't you?

It's another one of those nights, where the temperature of my arm, torso and leg is 10 degress warmer than the glass door of the fire in the next room. And that's pretty darn warm. My inbuilt heating could probably warm half the neighbourhood tonight and it's driven me out of bed and onto Flattie's computer to blog this nonsense for the sheer fun of sharing the misery.

I'm a good little sharer, you understand :-)

Staying here in Thames is like being at home with some major advantages; good food, better company, well behaved kids (those aliens have taken mine) and Nushie just loves the whole concept of "home away from home" if for no other reason than she has in the past few years discovered that some people actually provide their pets with nice woodburning fires just made for a wrinkly dog to lie in front of. And, while she has a big gas heater at home, its not the same as a wood fire cos even dogs like to watch the flames. It's a primal thing and she sure as hell never got any of that warmth stuff living up at the farm. In those days it was a kennel or a drum with a piece of carpet out in the pens with the other dogs. All year round.

Progress, canine style.

The only downside is that when away from home it's hard to roam the house in the wee sma's without disturbing 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs and three cats. And no one in their right mind disturbs these cats, not if they know what's good for them. So, I'm lurking here in Flattie's office at 2am with a few hundred books, a few hundred LPs and CDs, coffee, ciggies and a computer from which I bring you this rivetting slice of time via my blog.

Tonight we watched a great game of rugby between the Australian Wallabies and the NZ All Blacks and the Wallabies got thoroughly and completely bend-over-and-take-it-up-the-ass dicked. While old Loosehead Len was twittering earlier in the week about a walkover by the Wallabies, the reality was far different with a definitive win of 32-12 win to NZ over a lacklustre side with one very undisciplined player named Elsom who seemed to think that the rules don't apply to him, screwed up 3 times in 20 minutes and was sent off. Dumb ass.

I'm sure that, after the drubbing they've earned from their team management/fans/countrymen with this first game fiasco, the next NZ/Oz game in the Bledisloe Cup won't be such a doddle and we won't have to paint them Black, but tonight, if I was one of them, I'd be wishing those aliens would come and abduct me and save me the public and private humiliation. It's not even because the ABs played particularly well, they just played a shitload better than the oppostition. At least it wasn't cold in Christchurch tonight (@ 10ºC) so they can't go home whining about players getting hypothermia out on the field like they were on the TV the other week.

And to think the All Blacks never even brought out their jackets...

...or their handbags.
