The passing of Mr Grumpy
Monitor monitor; trainer of puppies; keeper of cars, slayer of rats and Lord and Master of All He Surveyed, Merlin the Mighty succumbed to whatever hit him very late last night and passed away under my bed in the early hours of this morning.
He was accompanied at the end by his ever faithful servant-dog Nushie and feline combatant Loopy.
Ironing the washing.
Polishing the car.
Dusting the monitor.
Cleaning the carpet.
He was buried in beneath the biggest rose bush in the garden this morning with a plaque of rememberance placed above him which simply reads 'Merlin "God" 2006'.
Rescued from the Hamilton SPCA July 2001, relieved of duty September 2006. He was 7 years old.
Merlin never forgot it and we won't forget it, either.
