The Times, they are a'changin'

Just when daylight savings is about to hit us, I stumble upon these fabulous little numbers.

I'm blessed with such exquisite timing.

Did you know that almost 160 years ago in 1868, New Zealand was possibly the first country to adopt a standard, nationally-observed time, which was 11 hours 30 minutes ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and called New Zealand Mean Time (NZMT). In 1941, the time was advanced 30 minutes. Then summer daylight savings was introduced and farmers went nuts, housewives despaired of their fading curtains from the extra hour of sunshine and many people learnt to get into bed early the night it changed to avoid that late start to their Sunday.

And they learnt how to adjust their clocks and change their smoke detector batteries. Don't forget yours when you go to bed this Saturday night.
