Feeling vitriolic

Have you heard of Fet-Mats Israelsson?

Bet ya haven't.

Fet-Mats Israelsson was a Swedish copper miner who never came home one day in 1677. Yes he was and 42 years later in 1719, some other copper miners came across his body underground. He was recognised by his former girlfriend and I guess she liked having him back because over a period of time, his body became very hard and dried up. He was petrified.

Well, wouldn't you be?

Anyway, that's what the called him, "the petrified miner". Finally, someone figured out that he wasn't petrified, he was covered with vitriol which is like sulphuric acid and stuff to us everyday proles. When it all evaporated he would sort of fall apart.

And he finally did in 1749.

30 years is a bloody long time to be petrified. Or is it...
