Big wheels rolling, movin on
Yesterday, Adam earned his first $$ in his chosen profession of Earthworks Man. Heather and Adam went up to the shops to visit the library. Adam got a digger book and Heather had her bike helmet nicked when they stopped at the $2 shop to spend their pocket money. Then Adam went roaming down a side street, ran into a man who lives near Ad's mate Andrew and this guy just happened to be at work, driving a truck removing soil from a building site. He asked Adam if he wanted to ride shotgun in the truck for the afternoon and Adam came rushing home to ask Mum, then rushed back up the hill to get to work.
When he came home at 5.30, he was hot, tired and happily clutching $5 in his hand - his "wages" for helping out and cleaning up after the truck wheels. Ok, so sweeping the road probably isn't really exciting for you and me, but for him it's his first steps to learning the trade. After all, every one has to start at the bottom and work up, if they want to be any good that is.
At least he didn't bring home a truckload of dirt like he did that truckload of woodchips...
Dayam, ya gotta love that boy, even if he does rather take after his mother.
